25th Founding Anniversary of the PDDM Davao Community

Great was the crowd gathered in the garden as early as 9:00 in the morning of February 21, 2009 to celebrate the Eucharist, a thanksgiving for  the 25th Founding Anniversary of the PDDM Davao Community.  It was composed of  seminarians from Regional Major Seminary who  joyously led the people in singing hymns of worship and praise, while the others served as ministers. His Excellency Archbishop Fernando Capalla, Archbishop of Davao was the main celebrant and  with him were Bishop George Rimando, Auxilliary Bishop of Davao and Bishop Collien Bagaforo, Auxilliary Bishop of Cotabato,  and 14 clergy from different parishes of  Davao and Mindanao as well as our Pauline priests. Lay faithful, religious men/women,  the Paulines, our benefactors, collaborators, families and friends came to join us in this historical moment.

The celebration was also graced by our sisters who started our community namely: Srs. Mary Adelle and Mary Martha. Sr. Mary Grace Salada was not able to come. Srs. M. Leticia, Alma and Eden Orlino, SPC.,  were also present.  Indeed God is infnitely rich in grace!  For us,
PDDM here in this land of promise, it was a day of festivity and recollection - a day of gathering events of the past so as to move on with gratitude and discernment.

25 years have passed and last February 21 we had celebrated with gratitude to the Lord for the manifold blessings we received from Him.  We can only exclaim: “I remember the deeds of the Lord,  I remember your wonders of old…” (Psalm 77:12).  The sentiment of this Psalm expresses the  feeling each one of the PDDM here in Davao would like to convey to the Lord, the Author of History.

  • 25 years of active and creative service to the local Church of Mindanao
  • 25 years of experiencing the faithfulness of God,  as we strive to live up the vocation mission entrusted to us by the Lord
  • 25 years of gaining support and collaboration from bishops, clergy, benefactors, friends, and the faithful of Mindanao

“I REMEMBER THE DEEDS OF THE LORD, I REMEMBER YOUR WONDERS OF OLD” (Psalm 77:12). The  sentiment  of this Psalm describes appropriately the very feelings each one of the PDDM here in Davao would like to convey to the Lord, the Author of History.
