Pauline Vocation Camp in Banton

The Pauline Vocation team in the Philippines held a Pauline Vocation camp at San Nicoloas de Tolentino Parish in Banton, Romblon last January 3-5, 2020.  The team headed by Fr. Eric Mark Salamat, SSP with Sr. Mary Jane, Sr. Yolanda, Sr. Reajoy of the Daughters of St. Paul and Sr. M. Benedict, PDDM sailed to Banton to encounter the young people. The vocation camp was organized by the Pauline Vocation team in collaboration with Fr. Jojo Flores and Fr. Julius Ambulo and also with the help of Rev. Levy, SSP who is a native of Banton. The theme “Stir up the gift of God” guided the program of activities during this 3-day camp.  Each participant received a drawstring bag which contains materials for the camp as well fliers from different congregations in the Pauline family. Some of the highlights of this activity were team building, Lectio Divina, Praise and Worship and Talk show which features the sisters and priests as well as young couple from Banton. The 120 young people enthusiastically participated and had shown their interest especially during the open forum which was done by writing their questions. It was also an opportunity for the Paulines present there to answer the questions relevant to our journey as religious, priests and as a church. This Vocation camp was well participated not only by young people but by the elderly as well, especially members of BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities) who prepared food for the young people. For the Pauline Family, it was a beautiful experience of collaboration in the work of pastoral care for young people and for vocation. Though the Pauline Vocation year had already ended, the Paulines resolved to continue the work of bringing good news to young people and will carry out this ministry whenever there will be another opportunity.
